Just listing this on Etsy and doing the tags to show it’s a gift for a boy then remember there is no greater fan of Ernest Shackleton than me, a girl. I guess I really missed out as a little girl not getting stories of the great explorers because those books “are for boys”. This book (from the 50’s) tells me that boys draw inspiration from Scott’s story. Erm... it’s rubbish isn’t it. Still happens.
I’m trying to make my way through the @womensprize short list before June and finished When I Hit You by Meena Kandasamy this morning. It is about a woman living with, well surviving, domestic violence. I’ll pop a review on the blog soon. Having a little respite today with this lovely autism memoir by @katherinemay_ and it’s making me chuckle frequently but also making me sad. A good mix!
I’ve not been playing along too consistently with #showingmyvintagestyle for which I apologise but of course I can manage an input today, the theme being glass. I have quite a lot of glass. Here are my glass Daisy’s. 😍
This morning I’ve posted a new book review on the blog. This is crime fiction from Iceland. Spoiler alert - love love loved it! #bookstagram #crimefiction #iceland #icelandicfiction #nordicnoir #snowblind #bookreview #bookblog #bookblogger #cluedo #whodunnit #book #books #bookflatlay #ragnarjonasson
Today on the blog I’m letting you know about the fabulous @word_on_the_water - a bookshop on a barge. For more photos, I know, I took too many, head over to the blog. Link to reach it is in my bio page. Have you been to Word on the Water? It’s situated right next to this weekends @classiccarbootsale in case you are heading there! #bookstagram #bookshopchallenge2018 #bookshop #londonbookshops #wishvintage #classiccarbootsale #bookblog #bookshopblog #bookblogger #bucketlist #bucketlistbookshop
We’ve had a sunny afternoon driving Billie and been inspired to give her an Instagram account of her very own. Follow if you fancy a tour round the beautiful Kent countryside in a VW Beetle x. @canter_billie_tales #visitkent #visitengland #kentcountryside #vwbeetle #vwbeetlelovers
It was magnificent in Brighton yesterday. The sun definitely had his hat on! The beach was packed and it was hot hot hot. We were asleep by 9pm and I’m not joking. Heat took its toll on these wintered bodies. Take care of yourselves this weekend x
We’re off to Brighton on the train today for a bookshop adventure. I’m hopeful of another glorious day, like yesterday! We took Billie out last night to celebrate her winning another years MOT. It was such a lovely evening too so I’m glad we made the effort. I hope you have a lovely day x. #billiegoesontour #billiethebeetle #classiccar #classiccars #wye #visitkent #wishvintage
We’ve been for our gorgeous walk round Folkestone again today, can’t get enough of it. The work that’s been done along the sea front is stunning and I’d highly recommend a visit. In the meantime I’ve done lots of jobs I hate like talking on the phone to Sky and sorting out the gas and electric tariff, finally! I’ve halved my monthly payment. Ridiculous!!!!!! Hope you’ve had a gorgeous day too xx.
